Let’s face it we all need a change of view sometimes to be creative or just refocus ourselves. I know I do. I’m lucky that my office is home-based and I’ve lots of great options. Mainly when a change of pace is needed when the weather gets warmer, I set-up office on my front porch. And soon with a wifi booster, I’ll be taking refuge on the back deck with my flowers and fountain. Or if I need a complete change of view, I set-up office at a small, hip cafe in another town. You would think sitting on the front porch with the world going by or working at a cafe with people and music, it would be a huge distraction. Not for me. I find it helps me. It is amazing how that change of view refreshes me and allows me to refocus and sparks creativity. The energy and vibe can be more vibrant. And thanks to technology, I’m able to work anywhere there’s Wi-Fi.
Chris Ward’s book, Out of Office: Work Where You Like & Achieve More is worth a read if you’re interested in untethering yourself to an office. Basically Chris covered all of my feelings about getting out of the office and being successful. You can be really productive while not sitting in the traditional office.
What’s your favorite place to work outside of your office. And why?
