There has been a buzz this week about fan pages on Facebook. For those of us working with Facebook pages, it is safe to say that recently things haven’t been so great. As I said to a couple of peers recently that Facebook Fan Page Insights is drunk and it needs to go home. Engagement has been down so has reach. I’ve gathered a round-up of some of the most interesting posts on the topic:

Facebook Limits Reach of Your Brand Posts, It Might Be Your Fault – Very good points in this one.

‘Chilling’ News for Brands on Facebook – More insightful points.

Facebook Marketing for Small Business: Dying Or Already Dead? – This post poses a valid question.

How to Maximize Organic Reach in the Facebook News Feed – Good tips.

Is Facebook Organic Reach Dead? – Excerpts from Facebook’s own words on the topic.
Facebook Pages: Is Your Facebook Organic Reach Down? – Some tips on how to prevent the decline.

OK so what does this mean?

Businesses need to rethink their participation on Facebook with this implied ‘pay to play’ scheme. The main takeaway is content. Facebook is focusing on quality of content produced perhaps on the quantity of content. That means those of us who continue with Pages need to rethink our strategy.
Let’s end with something completely different… I’m fascinated with abandoned structures. Love the way these photos have been framed.
