I am aliveI need to talk to an important health crisis: depression. Depression is often the cause of suicide. This week it is National Suicide Prevention Week. Someone important to me recently lost her 17 year old son to depression. He committed suicide. A group of friends are raising awareness about depression and suicide. We have formed Team Jacob. We are raising funds for The Kristin Brooks Hope Center. They operate a service called IMAlive. It’s the first online crisis chat center — a place where people in dire need can get instant help from trained volunteers. It’s not a cure-all; it’s first aid that can help someone get to more lasting assistance. The IMAlive 24-7 Giving Challenge hopes to raise $50,000. With that small amount, the service will remain available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, until August 2014. Donate here to make sure resources are available.
Hard transition from suicide prevention week to interesting information I found this week. Bare with me. Just focus on above and joining Team Jacob.

And lastly, we all could do with more sleep. Napping is a good way to regain some lost sleep. This from the Wall Street Journal.
